Austin Transportation Public Works Mural

This project was a collaboration between the City of Austin, the Transportation Public Works Department, and the Vision Zero initiative. The Odom Pavilion, located on Cesar Chavez in Austin, Texas, had spent most of its years a drab primer gray.

I collaborated with the city to transform it with a meaningful message. Each figure painted in the mural holds a sign with a direct quote from survivors of pedestrian accidents. I had the opportunity to learn from these survivors about the anguish they experienced, either firsthand or through a family member. This project stands as a powerful example of the impact public art can have within a community.
